About

Online Simultaneous Performance Art Series

The Lock Unlock Performance Art Project initiative to introduce  online activities grew out of the project’s core artists’ experiences of the global pandemic in 2020.

The programme has established itself as continuous zoom gatherings which alternate between simultaneous virtual and recorded performance actions, followed  by a discussion amongst the invited participants.

All performances of Lock Unlock Performance Art Project Episodes are recorded, edited and generated through LockUnlock YouTube channel and social media platforms. During the times of pandemic lockdown periods, we as artists and performance artists have been able to bridge and temporarily overcome the absence of travels through artistic nomadic interceptions and live exchanges at the crossroads of public interventions.

Crucial questions arose during the beginning of the Lock Unlock Performance Art Project, and reflections on the recorded performances were concerned with the participatory role of the spectator in live situation, versus the peculiar non-negotiable absence of the viewer due to international community restrictions during the global pandemic.

The tactile experience of energy, bodily forces, smells, interactivity,  sounds and movement through multiple sources have been sacrificed and greatly missed, yet somehow survives in new virtual avenues of artistic research and collaborations.
